Gregory V. Gomez, M.D.

Dr. Gregory Gomez is an orthopaedic surgeon who focuses on the surgical and non-surgical management of shoulder and elbow injuries. Dr. Gomez has specialized training and technical expertise in the areas of advanced shoulder and elbow arthroscopy, traumatic or chronic instability of the shoulder/elbow, complex fracture care of the shoulder/elbow, sports injuries to the throwing athlete, and management of the multitude arthropathies that affect the shoulder and elbow.

Dr. Gomez earned his undergraduate degree from Chapman University while playing baseball, 2002 Div. III NCAA Champions, majoring in Biology with an emphasis is Exercise Physiology. He went on to attend medical school at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Dr. Gomez saw an opportunity to train at a legacy institution and completed his Orthopaedic Surgical Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Campus at San Antonio. He received expert training from the world-renowned surgeons who have “Wrote the Book of Orthopaedics” being: Drs. Charles Rockwood, Kaye Wilkins, David P. Green, Bernard Morrey, and Jesse DeLee.

After residency, Dr. Gomez completed a Shoulder and Elbow Reconstructive Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. While there he experienced a high surgical volume in both sports and degenerative injuries to the shoulder and elbow, and was involved in clinical research. Dr. Gomez was even awarded the opportunity to train with some prominent French surgeons in Monaco and the French Rivera during his fellowship year.

Dr. Gomez has recently been involved in co-authoring a book chapter on revision of failed reverse shoulder arthroplasty, along with publishing peer reviewed research. He remains up to date on current treatments for his patients by remaining active in the American Shoulder Elbow Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Being a previous collegiate athlete, Dr. Gomez understands the competitive mentality and is dedicated to providing excellent care to prolong the amateur and professional career. When Dr. Gomez is not in the office, you can find him spending time with his wife and three daughters enjoying the outdoors surfing, boating, or watching his daughters play sports.
